SIX AFGHAN POLICE BEHEADED BY TALIBAN

TALIBAN INSURGENTS BEHEADED
SIX AFGHAN POLICE DURING A RAID
KABUL (Reuters/CNN) - Taliban militants beheaded six Afghan police officers during a raid in northern Baghlan province, officials said Wednesday. The militants had attacked a school, clinic and the district governor’s office in Dahanah-e Ghori. They overran a police checkpoint and killed the six police officers, according to NATO’s International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and Munshi Abdul Majid, the governor of Baghlan. In all, eight police officers were at the checkpoint, Munshi said. They defended themselves for two hours during the skirmish before the beheadings. The grisly incident occurred Tuesday in a province that had until recently been largely spared from violence and on the same day that participants at an international donors conference in Kabul agreed that Afghan forces should take over security for the troubled nation by 2014. “This incident once again demonstrates the brutal, barbaric and senseless acts committed by the Taliban,” said Col. Rafael Torres, an ISAF spokesman. Tuesday’s attack by the Taliban targeted a police post and a district government building in a province where they have been largely absent until recently.

The attack came on the same day an international conference agreed Afghan forces should be leading security operations across the country by 2014, with the aim of relieving foreign troops in some areas by as soon as the end of the year. A spokesman for the Taliban confirmed the attack, but denied the alliance’s report on beheadings. While the Taliban has carried out beheadings before, the governor of Baghlan, Abdul Majid, said he was unaware of the mutilation report. Despite the number of foreign forces rising to around 150,000, the Taliban have made a comeback from their 2001 ousting and casualties on all sides are mounting. Today, another international coalition forces service member died in a bombing in southern Afghanistan, authorities said.

During an attack Taliban insurgents overran a police checkpoint and killed six Afghan police officers by cutting off their heads. In this era, people lack compassion and are used to decapitate animals for meat; therefore, now behead human beings, forgetting that both animals and people are all brothers and sisters.

WHAT DO THE VEDIC TEACHINGS TELL US?
To be nonviolent to human beings and to be a killer or enemy of the poor animals is Satan's philosophy. In this age there is enmity toward poor animals, and therefore the poor creatures are always anxious. The reaction of the poor animals is being forced on human society, and therefore there is always the strain of cold or hot war between men, individually, collectively or nationally. At the time of Mahārāja Yudhishthira ... the whole world was united, and the supreme head, being a trained king like Yudhishthira, kept all the inhabitants free from anxiety, diseases and excessive heat and cold. They were not only economically well-to-do, but also physically fit and undisturbed by supernatural power, by enmity from other living beings and by disturbance of bodily and mental agonies.
